Sharon Atkinson-Briggs, a nurse and Credentialled Diabetes Educator, is undertaking a PhD (supervised by Drs Laima Brazionis and Alicia Jenkins) developing and testing and new model of care for eye health screening in Indigenous Australians with diabetes in Indigenous Primary Care practices.

Dr. Emma Scott, an endocrinologist at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, is undertaking her PhD, which was recently submitted for examination, under the supervision of Drs. Alicia Jenkins, Greg Fulcher and Anand Hardikar. Her PhD studies relate to the effects of insulin delivery mode (insulin pump or multiple daily injections) in people with Type 1 diabetes. For her oral presentation at the 2019 Australian Diabetes Congress, related to glucose variability and complications in Type 2 diabetes adults in the FIELD trial Emma won the Dr Paul Lee memorial award for the best clinical presentation.
